Digital Technologies and Entrepreneurship

Note: This Summer School programme is fully booked.

Organisations often struggle to adapt to new technologies and the rapid integration of disruptive IT technologies such as the AI. This challenge becomes more pronounced in a landscape of continuous and accelerating change, where not all organisations are agile enough to overcome cultural and organisational inertia.

The Summer School on Digital Technologies and Entrepreneurship directly addresses these challenges by arming participants with the skills to analyze work processes and organizations. Through a blend of workshops and hands-on work on actual company challenges, participants will learn how to develop innovative work methods and lay the groundwork for a reorganization, new venture or a spin-off of the company.

Main Topics

The 2024 Summer School on Digital Technologies and Entrepreneurship promises a transformative impact on the participating students and companies providing them with challenges by leveraging the collective expertise of renowned international experts. Over a two-week duration, participants will be immersed in a dynamic learning environment, where they gain insights from leading figures in entrepreneurship and the application of digital technologies. This unique experience positions them to tackle some of the most pressing challenges that organizations face in the present and the foreseeable future. It also teaches the students the basics of value creation, value capture and business model generation for existing and new ventures.

By fostering collaboration and innovation, the summer school encourages participants to work in teams, addressing real-world challenges encountered by global companies and institutions based in Slovenia. This hands-on approach not only enhances the participants' problem-solving skills but also provides practical solutions for the partnering organizations. The symbiotic relationship formed during this collaborative process benefits both the students and the entities seeking innovative solutions – that sometimes continues even after the summer school is completed.

As students engage in solving concrete challenges, they apply cutting-edge digital technologies to develop solutions that have the potential to reshape individual companies, whole industries and contribute to economic growth. The emphasis on entrepreneurship ensures that these solutions are not only technically sound but also commercially viable. Participants are exposed to the intricacies of venture creation, preparing them for the dynamic landscape of business and innovation.

Intended Audience

The  Summer School is open to young professionals as well as Bachelor or Master students, who want to deep-dive in emerging digital technologies and learn how to turn these technologies into business. This will enable them to become innovators and entrepreneurs  in the field of digital transformation, managing innovation activities in their own startup companies or large enterprises as designers, developers and founders.

As the programme has a focus on business innovation and entrepreneurship, there is no need to have specific technical backgrounds or any coding knowledge to join our Summer School.
