Aggeliki Tsohou

Aggeliki Tsohou(Ionian University)

Aggeliki Tsohou holds a Diploma in Informatics from the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece (1998) and a M.Sc. in Information Systems from the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece (2004). She also holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems Security Management completed under the supervision of Prof. S. Kokolakis, at the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, Greece (2010). She has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Jyväskylä, Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, Finland and Senior Research Fellow in Brunel Business School, UK. She is a co-author of more than fifty research publications in international scientific journals and conferences in her interest field, including Journal of Information Technology, Journal for the Association of Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, IT & People, ECIS and MCIS. She is an Editorial Board Member for four peer-reviewed international scientific research Journals. She has served on the Program Committee of thirty international conferences and as a Reviewer in more than fifty international scientific journals and conferences in the information systems and  information security field. She has been involved in the FP7 European Projects OASIS, CEES and UbiPOL. She serves as the scientific coordinator for Ionian University for the European projects DEFeND (Horizon 2020) and OCTANE (Interreg). She is working as a consultant to ENISA providing expertise in information security awareness for the preparation of the European Cyber Security Month.

Aikaterini-Georgia Mavroeidi

Aikaterini-Georgia Mavroeidi (University of the Aegean)

Dr. Katerina Mavroeidi holds a BSc from the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean and a Master degree on Cultural Informatics and Communication from the same University. She has also achieved a Master degree on Information Security from the University of Brighton. Additionally, she holds a PhD from the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean. Her PhD dissertation focused on privacy awareness through gamified educational programs. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Aegean.Her skills include computer graphics and user interface design with a focus on user experience and usability evaluation. Her second master degree broadened her knowledge on Information Security. Based on that, her skills include also analysis and modelling of security and privacy requirements, software architecture and risk management. Her dissertation for this master was about usable security. In addition, her interests lie in the area of usable privacy.

Athanasios Kanatas

Athanasios Kanatas (University of Piraeus)

Athanasios (Thanasis) G. Kanatas is a Professor at the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, Greece, (https://www.ds.unipi.gr/en/faculty/kanatas-en/) and the Director of the Telecommunication Systems Laboratory (http://tsl.ds.unipi.gr). He received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 1991, the M.Sc. degree in Satellite Communication Engineering from the University of Surrey, Surrey, UK in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree in Mobile Satellite Communications from NTUA, Greece in February 1997. From 1993 to 1994 he was with National Documentation Center of National Research Institute. In 1995, he joined SPACETEC Ltd. as Technical Project Manager for VISA/EMEA VSAT Project in Greece. In 1996, he joined the Mobile Radio-Communications Laboratory as a research associate. From 1999 to 2002 he was with the Institute of Communication & Computer Systems responsible for the technical management of various research projects. In 2000, he became a member of the Board of Directors of OTESAT S.A. In 2002, he joined the University of Piraeus as an Assistant Professor. He has published more than 200 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the author of 6 books in the field of wireless and satellite communications in Greek and/or English language. He has been the technical manager of several European and National R&D projects. His current research interests include V2X communications and cybersecurity issues for V2X communications in beyond 5G systems, the development of new waveforms and digital techniques for next generation wireless and satellite communications systems; channel characterization, simulation, and modeling for mobile and mobile-satellite communication systems; antenna design and array beamforming for next generation wireless systems; stochastic geometry for next generation wireless systems; UAV-assisted wireless communications. He has been a Senior Member of IEEE since 2002. In 1999, he was elected Chairperson of the Communications Society of the Greek Section of IEEE. From 2013 to 2017, he has served as Dean of the School of Information & Communication Technologies of the University of Piraeus, Greece. In 2021 he elected delegate of Region 15 (Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Turkey) in European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP). From August 2022, he is an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

Bart Preneel

Bart Preneel (KU Leuven)

Bart Preneel received the Electrical Engineering degree and the Doctorate in Applied Sciences from the KU Leuven (Belgium). He is currently full professor (gewoon hoogleraar) at the KU Leuven. He has been visiting professors at the Technical University of Denmark (2007), Graz University of Technology in Austria (1997-2006), the University of Bergen in Norway (1997-2001), Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum in Germany (2001-2002) and at the Ghent University  (1994-2002). He has served a scientific advisor of Philips Research (the Netherlands). During the academic year 1993-1994, he was a research fellow of the EECS Department of the University of California at Berkeley. His main research interests are cryptography, information security and privacy.

Cagatay Yucel

Cagatay Yucel (Bournemouth University)

Cagatay Yucel (PhD) is a Post-Doctoral Researcher and a Threat Intelligence Analyst at Cyber Security Research Group and BU-CERT of Bournemouth University. Dr. Yucel earned his PhD in 2019 with the thesis of “Imaging and Evaluating Memory Access for Malware”. Dr. Yucel is currently working in EU funded project “European Network of Cybersecurity Centres and Competence Hub for Innovation and Operations” (ECHO), funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. He has delivered lectures in computer forensics and cyber security workshops internationally on Reverse Engineering, Malware Analysis and Computer Forensics.

Christopher Wills

Christopher Wills (CARIS Research Ltd)            

Chris Wills is a founder member and Director of CARIS Research Ltd. Prior to which, he was the Director of The Centre for Applied Research in Information Systems at Kingston University London. Chris has managed and undertaken information systems and computing research and consulting projects, on behalf of a range of organisations including the Defence Evaluation Research Agency, the UK’s MOD’s Tri-Services, the Police Service, the Health Service, the Department for Transport and The Mass Transit Railway Corporation of Hong Kong.  His specialist area of interest is that of Socio-Technical Systems Design, where great emphasis is placed on creating the optimal interaction between users and the application of ICT. He also specialises in software process in safety critical systems and it is in this area of computing systems that he has undertaken work for the Royal Navy, scoping the design of warship command and control systems. Chris is a Freeman of the City of London and is a Liveryman of the City of London’s Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.

Christos Kalloniatis

Christos Kalloniatis (University of the Aegean)

Dr. Christos Kalloniatis holds a PhD from the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean, a master degree on Computer Science from the University of Essex, UK and a Bachelor degree in Informatics from Technological Educational Institute of Athens. Currently he is a full time Professor and head of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean and director of the Privacy Engineering and Social Informatics (PrivaSI) research laboratory. He is a member of board of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and former member of the board of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy. His main research interests are the elicitation, analysis and modelling of security and privacy requirements in traditional and cloud-based systems, the analysis and modelling of forensic-enabled systems and services, Privacy Enhancing Technologies and the design of Information System Security and Privacy in Cultural Informatics. He is an author of several refereed papers in international scientific journals and conferences and has served as a visiting professor in many European Institutions. Prior to his academic career he has served at various places on the Greek public sector including the North Aegean Region and Ministry of Interior, Decentraliastion and e-Governance. He is a lead-member of the Cultural Informatics research group as well as the privacy requirements research group in the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean and has a close collaboration with the Laboratory of Information & Communication Systems Security of the University of the Aegean. He has served as a member of various development and research projects. He lives in Mitilini, the capital of Lesvos island along with his wife Liana and his daughters Elpiniki and Irene.

Costas Lambrinoudakis

Costas Lambrinoudakis (University of Piraeus)

Prof. Costas Lambrinoudakis holds a B.Sc. (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from the University of Salford (1985), an M.Sc. (Control Systems) from the University of London (Imperial College -1986), and a Ph.D. (Computer Science) from the University of London (Queen Mary and Westfield College – 1991). Currently, he is a Professor at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece. From 1998 until 2009 he has held teaching position with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, Greece.  For the period 2012-2015, he was a member of the board of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy, while from 2016 he serves on the board of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority. Finally, from 2015, he is Head of the Department of Digital Systems and Director of the Systems Security Lab. His current research interests are in the areas of Information and Communication Systems Security and of Privacy Enhancing Technologies. For many years he is working on issues related to the protection of personal data and the compliance of information systems to the National and European Legislation. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in refereed international journals, books and conferences, most of them on ICT security and privacy protection issues. He has served as program committee chair of 15 international scientific conferences and as a member on the program and organizing committees in more than 150 others. Also, he participates in the editorial board of two international scientific journals and he acts as a reviewer for more than 35 journals. He has been involved in many national and EU funded R&D projects in the area of Information and Communication Systems Security. He is a member of the ACM and the IEEE.

Edgar Weippl

Edgar Weippl (University of Vienna)

Edgar R. Weippl after graduating with a PhD from TU Wien, worked in a research startup for two years. He then spent one year teaching as an assistant professor at Beloit College, WI. From 2002 to 2004, while with the software vendor ISIS Papyrus, he worked as a consultant in New York, NY and Albany, NY, and in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2004 he joined the TU Wien and founded the research center SBA Research together with A Min Tjoa and Markus Klemen. In 2020 Edgar left TU Wien to accept a position as full professor at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Computer Science. He is member of the editorial board of Computers & Security (COSE), organizes the ARES conference and is General Chair of SACMAT 2015, PC Chair of Esorics 2015, General Chair of ACM CCS 2016, and PC Chair of ACM SACMAT 2017.

Günther Pernul

Günther Pernul (University of Regensburg)

Günther Pernul received both the diploma degree and the doctorate degree (with honours) from the University of Vienna, Austria. Currently, he is Chair and full professor at the Department of Information Systems (Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik) at the Universität Regensburg, Germany. Prior to that he held a similar position as full professor with the University of Duisburg-Essen (1995-2002), Germany, and a position as assistant professor (later on as associate professor) with the Department of Applied Computer Sciences at the University of Vienna, Austria. He was a post-doctoral scholar at the Database Systems Research and Development Centre at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, as well as at the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. His current major research interests are information systems security, individual privacy and data protection, identity management, authorization and access control systems, cyber threat intelligence, security analytics. Additionally, he has developed interests in web-based information systems and advanced data centric applications.

Georgios Kavallieratos

Georgios Kavallieratos (Norwegian University of Science and Technology)

Georgios Kavallieratos was awarded his Ph.D. in Information Security and Communication Technology by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology – NTNU in 2021. Moreover, he received the B.Sc. degree in computer science and the M.Sc. degree in digital systems security in 2016 and 2018, respectively, from the University of Piraeus, Piraeus, Greece. He is a certified ISO 27001:2013 lead auditor for information security management systems. Currently, he is a researcher with the Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience (CISaR) research group of the Dept. of Information Security and Communication Technology at NTNU. His main line of research concerns topics related to Critical Infrastructure Protection and Maritime cybersecurity, and particularly, those associated with the security of cyber-physical systems, risk management, and cyber threat intelligence. Τhe areas of interest are related to the security of cyber physical systems, in a number of application domains that include inter alia the energy, health, space, and maritime sectors. He is author of several papers belonging to different journals and conferences on cyber-physical systems security and participates as a program committee member on several international conferences related to the aforementioned research topics and as a reviewer of several international journals.

Haralambos Mouratidis

Haralambos Mouratidis (University of Essex)

Haris Mouratidis is a Professor and Director of the Institute for Analytics and Data Science at the University of Essex. Before that, he was a Professor of Software Systems Engineering and founding Director of the Centre for Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems (CSIUS) at the University of Brighton. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a visiting professor at the University of Stockholm (Sweden) and the University of Ionian (Greece). His research interests lie in the intersection of security, privacy, and data science. He has pioneered work in developing methodologies, modelling languages, ontologies, tools and platforms to support the analysis, design, and monitoring of security, privacy, risk and trust for large-scale complex data systems. He has applied his theoretical work to practical applications in domains such as critical infrastructures, cloud computing, health-care, telecommunications, banking, and e-commerce.

Javier Lopez

Javier Lopez (University of Malaga)

​Javier Lopez received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1992 and 2000, respectively, from University of Malaga. From 1991 to 1994 he worked as a systems analyst in the indutrial sector, and in 1994 he joined the Computer Science Department at the University of Malaga, where he actually is Full Professor. His research activities are mainly focused on information and network security, leading some Spanish and EU research projects in those areas. Part of his research has been developed while been a visiting researcher at several universities, namely, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Yale in U.S, Tsukuba in Japan and QUT in Australia. Prof Lopez is the Co-Editor in Chief of Springer's International Journal of Information Security (IJIS), Spanish representative of the IFIP TC-11 WG (Security and Protection in Information Systems), and Chair of ERCIM's Working Group on Security and Trust Management.

Lilian Mitrou

Lilian Mitrou (University of the Aegean)

Lilian Mitrou is Professor at the University of the Aegean - Greece (Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering) and Visiting Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the University of Piraeus (Postgraduate Studies Programs). She is President of the Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL), established by the European Public Law Organization.L. Mitrou holds a PhD in Data Protection (University of Frankfurt-Germany). She was Member of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (1999-2003) and of many Committees working on law proposals in the fields of privacy and data protection, communications law, e-government etc. During the Greek Presidency of the Council of EU (2014) she has served as Chair of DAPIX (Working Group on Information Exchange and Data Protection)). Since November 2016 she is member of the Greek National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV). Her professional experience includes senior consulting and researcher positions in a number of private and public institutions and projects on national and international level. L. Mitrou published books, chapters in books and many journal and conference papers (in English, German and Greek).

Ludwig Fuchs

Ludwig Fuchs (University of Regensburg)

Dr. Ludwig Fuchs studied Information Systems (Wirtschaftsinformatik) at the University of Regensburg, Germany and had completed his dissertation in the area in 2009. In between 2004 and 2009 he studied and researched at the University of York (UK) and the University of Texas (San Antonio, USA) together with well-known academics in the field of IT security (e.g. Prof. Dr. Ravi Sandhu, “RBAC”). His main research interest comprises Identity Management within mid-sized and large organizations. Over the last ten years, Ludwig Fuchs gathered practical and academic experience and published the results at several international IT security conferences. His expert knowledge has additionally been underlined throughout his work in several industry projects, bridging the gap between practical requirements and latest academic research results.

Maria Karyda

She is currently Assistant Professor with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering. Her research interests lie in the fields of organizational and human aspects of information security management, including employee security behaviour, awareness and culture, security policies, and privacy protection.  She has offered several guest lecturers in the area of information security management to education institutes, including the Ionian University, the University of Piraeus and the Technical Educational Institute of Athens, and to international summer schools. She has also collaborated as a security expert with Dr Maria Karyda holds a PhD in Information Systems Security Management, a M.Sc. in Information Systems and a B.Sc. in Informatics from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece. She is currently Assistant Professor with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering. Her research interests lie in the fields of organizational and human aspects of information security management, including employee security behaviour, awareness and culture, security policies, and privacy protection.  She has offered several guest lecturers in the area of information security management to education institutes, including the Ionian University, the University of Piraeus and the Technical Educational Institute of Athens, and to international summer schools.

Nathan Clarke

Nathan Clarke (University of Plymouth)

Nathan Clarke is a Professor of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics at the University of Plymouth. He is also an adjunct Professor at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. His research interests reside in the area of information security, biometrics, forensics and intrusion detection and has over 200 journal papers, conference papers, books, edited books, book chapters and patents. He is the recent past Chair of the IFIP TC11.12 Working Group on the Human Aspects of Information Security & Assurance (2013-2019). Prof Clarke is a chartered engineer, a fellow of the British Computing Society (BCS), a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security, a senior member of the IEEE and the author of Transparent Authentication: Biometrics, RFID and Behavioural Profiling published by Springer and Computer Forensics: A Pocket Guide published by IT Governance.

Panos Andriotis

Panos Andriotis (University of Birmingham)

Dr Panagiotis Andriotis is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, and a GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GIAC GCFE, GIAC GASF). He carries out interdisciplinary research into Cyber Security, Human Factors, and Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing. He teaches Computer Science, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics topics.

Pierangela Samarati

Pierangela Samarati (Universita' degli Studi di Milano)

​Pierangela Samarati is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Universita' degli Studi di Milano. Her main research interests are: data security and privacy; access control policies, models and systems; information system security; and information protection in general. She has participated in several projects involving different aspects of information protection. On these topics she has published more than 230 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. She has been Computer Scientist in the Computer Science Laboratory at SRI, CA (USA). She has been a visiting researcher at the Computer Science Department of Stanford University, CA (USA), and at the Center Center for Secure Information System of George Mason University, VA (USA). She is the chair of the IEEE Systems Council Technical Committee on Security and Privacy in Complex Information Systems (TCSPCIS), of the Steering Committees of the European Symposium on Research in Computer Security (ESORICS), and of the ACM Workshop on Privacy in the Electronic Society (WPES). She is member of several steering committees.  She is ACM Distinguished Scientist (named 2009) and IEEE Fellow (named 2012).  She has been awarded the IFIP TC11 Kristian Beckman award (2008) and the IFIP WG 11.3 Outstanding Research Contributions Award (2012).

Sokratis Katsikas

Sokratis K. Katsikas was born in Athens, Greece, in 1960. He received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece in 1982, the Master of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Amherst, USA, in 1984 and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering & Informatics from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece in 1987. Currently, he is a Professor at the Dept. of Information Security and Communication Technology of the NTNU. He has been the Rector (2003-2006) and Vice-Rector (1997-2003) of the University of the Aegean, member of the Board of the Hellenic Quality Assurance Authority for Higher Education (2006-2008), member of the Board of the Hellenic Authority for Information and Communication Security and Privacy (2008-2009), Vice-President of the Panhellenic Federation of University Faculty Members (2009), the National Representative of Greece to the Management Committee of the 7th EU R&D Framework Programme "People" (2007-2009), the General Secretary for Communications of the Ministry of Infrastructures, Transport and Networks of the Hellenic Republic (2009-2012), member of the Committee for Information and Communication Technologies of the Greek Government (2011-2012) and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Board on Information and Communication Technologies projects of the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Electronic Government (2011-2012). His research interests lie in the areas of information and communication systems security and of estimation theory and its applications. He has authored or co-authored more than 230 journal publications, book chapters and conference proceedings publications and he has participated in more than 60 funded national and international R&D projects in these areas. He is serving on the editorial board of several scientific journals, he has authored/edited 26 books and has served on/chaired the technical programme committee of more than 300 international scientific conferences.

Spyros Kokolakis

Spyros Kokolakis (University of the Aegean)

Dr. Spyros Kokolakis is a Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean. He holds a B.Sc. (Informatics) and a Ph.D. (Information Systems) from the Athens University of Economics & Business (GR). He has been involved in several national and EU-funded R&D projects in the area of Information and Communication Systems Security. He is an author of several refereed papers in international scientific journals and conferences. He is a member of ACM and IEEE.

Steven Furnell

Steven Furnell (University of Nottingham)

Prof. Steven Furnell is Professor of Cyber Security in the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, as well as an Adjunct Professor with Edith Cowan University in Western Australia and an Honorary Professor with Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. I am also the Chair of Technical Committee 11 (Security and Privacy Protection) within the International Federation for Information Processing, as well as a board member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security and chair the academic partnership committee.

Vasilios Katos

Vasilios Katos (Bournemouth University)

Vasilis Katos obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, an MBA from Keele University in the UK and a PhD in Computer Science (network security and cryptography) from Aston University. He is a certified Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI). Currently, he is a Professor at Bournemouth University. He has worked in the Industry as Information Security Consultant and served as an expert witness in Information Security in the UK and Greece. His research falls in the area of digital forensics and incident response. He has participated in FP7, H2020 and nationally funded research projects and in a number of national and international cyberdefence exercises. He has over 130 publications in journals, book chapters and conference proceedings and serves as a referee on several reputable conferences and journals (for example, IEEE Communications Letters, Computers & Security, Information and Computer Security), has coordinated and delivered a number of workshops, both in an academic and a security professionals context. He is member of the editorial board of Computers & Security. In terms of recognition of his research, he has received keynote speech invitations for international conferences (indicatively, the 8th European Conference on Information Warfare and Security) and his research has been addressed by reputable magazines such as the New Scientist.
